What Happens at Your Areola Restoration Consultation
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it tends to bring a wave of questions from people who have been quietly wondering about restoration for a while.
If the consultation itself is what has been holding you back, here is exactly what it involves.
It Is a Conversation, Not a Commitment
Your consultation is complimentary and carries no obligation to schedule anything.
People come in at all stages. Some are ready to book. Some are still six months from being cleared. Some are gathering information for a decision they will make next year. All of those are normal reasons to come in.
You will not be pressured, and you will not be quoted a price on a countdown.
What We Talk About
The conversation generally covers:
Your surgical history and where you are in healing
What you are hoping restoration will accomplish
Whether the timing is right, and if not, when it would be
What results are realistic for your skin and your history
How the two-session process works
Whether insurance may apply, and what your cost would be
Whether You Need to Undress
You do not have to undress at your consultation if you do not want to.
An assessment of the tissue does help us give you accurate answers about timing and what is achievable. But this happens in a private room, with the door closed, only if and when you are ready, and you can decline entirely and still get useful information.
Some people prefer to bring photos instead for a first visit. That is fine.
What to Bring
Helpful but not required:
The name of your surgeon or care team
Any information about upcoming planned procedures
Your insurance card if you want us to look into coverage
A support person, if that makes it easier
Your questions, written down if that helps you remember them
What You Will Leave Knowing
By the end, you should have clear answers on:
Whether you are ready now or approximately when you will be
What restoration can and cannot do in your situation
What the appointment day looks like
What it will cost, and whether insurance may cover it
If we cannot answer something, we will tell you that rather than guess.
If You Are Not Ready
Deciding against restoration, or deciding to wait, is a legitimate outcome of a consultation.
We would rather you make an informed decision not to do this than an uninformed decision to go ahead.
Come In When You Are Ready
There is no expiration on this. The consultation is there whenever you want it.
